Higher safety standards, improved energy efficiency, flexible applications: For the fourth time, the Best of the Best were awarded the SHOWTECH PRODUCT AWARD. The jury chose one winner in each of the core segments of the fair; in Stage Machinery, in Lighting Technology and Projection as well as in Event Technology and Event Services. The awards were presented on the second day during the SHOWTECH NIGHT. 10 products had been nominated. 41 exhibitors had taken part in the competition.

The following products are the winners of the SHOWTECH PRODUCT AWARD 2009:

STAGE TECHNOLOGY CATEGORY

Gala Systems Inc.: "Self Guided" Spiralift I-Lock LD 250

Gala Systems Inc.: "Self Guided" Spiralift I-Lock LD 250The award in the Stage Technology category went to Gala Systems of Canada. The stage technology company convinced the jury with the “Self Guided" Spiralift I-Lock LD 250. The lift for raising platforms consists of a coiled flexible steel spring and a thin vertically orientated spiral steel band that provides a fully rigid stainless steel column which can overcome heights of up to 1.80 m. The jury gave special mention to the ability of the system of also being able to absorb horizontal forces at this height. Guidance of podiums is thus no longer required. Usage in orchestra, hall or compensatory podiums is also of interest due to the possibility of simple installation and the favourable price by comparison to former systems. Through the interlocking of vertical and horizontal steel bands, the system also provides a high standard of safety.

LIGHTING TECHNOLOGY AND PROJECTION CATEGORY

BBS GmbH, Beleuchtungstechnik Bühnentechnik Schenk: Eliminator

BBS GmbH, Beleuchtungstechnik Bühnentechnik Schenk: EliminatorBBS GmbH was pleased with the award in the Lighting Technology and Projection category. The Eliminator is an innovative, wide-angle spotlight using LED technology comparable to a standard 5 kW unit. Its strong points are its high energy efficiency with a long service life of about 50,000 operating hours and 600 W output – flicker-free regulated and through DMX controllable. Apart from a high optical efficiency, the spotlight also offers a very high level of safety. The Eliminator is fitted in a stable, black metal housing, which is perfectly designed for use within the stage area. Also decisive for the verdict by the jury was the low weight of the spotlight and its multifarious usability.

EVENT TECHNOLOGY AND EVENT SERVICES CATEGORY

SUITESTUFF GmbH: CU [see:you]

SUITESTUFF GmbH: CU [see:you] In the Event Technology and Event Services category, SUITESTUFF was the winner with the CU range of partitions. CU is a flexible partition that has the advantage of standing all alone and lighting up with LEDs without a mains or cable connection. The partition is internally illuminated by means of a rechargeable battery. The light can shine in various colours. The partitioning modules from the CU series can be flexibly and individually erected. By means of the castors that are hidden under the base plate, CU can be moved as required within the room. The modules can stand individually and can also be strung together. In the opinion of the jury, SUITESTUFF has thus succeeded in becoming a truly original tool for flexible architecture.
